Hearing nothing

OMG! I went to my first concert last night and it so fucking rocked! It was Saliva, Earshot, and Skillet. They seemed to be trying to sell it as a heavy metal thing, but I don't think of any of these bands as heavy. Heh. Then I thought it odd to throw Skillet, a Christian band, into the middle of all this, but regardless, it was amazing. Alicia and I were sitting in the front row, behind the moshpitt. I regret not getting floor tickets so I could have crowd-surfed, but they were still nice seats. There were some people who smelled like weed and ass next to us, but I was screaming my head off too much to really notice. I banged my foot up really bad while I was jumping, so I have a few bruises to show for it---sweet pain to remember it by.

When Skillet came out I was kind of shocked by the change in their look. The lead singer used to have this Robert Smith of The Cure look except he's blond. They used to have a sound similar to NIN (or at least in my opinion), but all of that had changed. I didn't know any of their songs, but now I'm really interested in their album. By the time Earshot came out everyone was pumped up and starting to get loud. I really hadn't heard much from them before and I honestly don't really care for them, but it made for some nice head banging. The drummer was fucking awesome---he had like a 20 minute solo, he threw his sticks out into the crowd and continued playing with just his hands.

When Saliva got on stage it was so loud I thought my eardrums were going to burst. I knew just about every song they played and people were staring at me because I was screaming the lyrics at the top of my lungs. After they finished their set no one would leave so we got an encore. They said we were the loudest crowd they had in a while and there were only about 900 people there. I don't know how many times I will say this but....IT WAS FUCKING AWESOME!!!!!!!!! Now I must see Thrice live.
